Technotronic was the creation of Belgian producer Thomas De Quincey (Jo Bogaert) who had previous projects with Nux Nemo and Acts Of Madmen. Founded in 1989, that immediate success with debut "Pump Up The Jam". Origins of that started as "Technotronic" for the outfit The Pro 4's and featured Eddie Murphy samples.
In the 1990s, they are best known for "Get up", which reached the top of the Canada Dance chart and UK#2 in 1990. This featured the vocal rap of Ya Kid K (Manuela Kamosi). She'd go on to feature on most Technotronic's hits from the debut album "Pump up the Jam". MC Eric (Eric martin) contributed the vocal rap for the follow-up "This Beat Is Technotronic."
For the second studio album, "Body to Body", Ya Kid K had left to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Reggie (Rejane Magloire), which spawned a couple more semi-hits with "Move that body" and "Work" in 1991.
In 1992, due in part to a Revlon advertising campaign, "Move this" from their first album was released and reached #5 on the US Billboard chart.
Their third album, "Recall," was released 4 years later and fitted in the Eurodance parameters of the era. It featured the return of Ya Kid K on vocals and the inclusion of Daisy Dee (Daisy Rollocks) and Black Diamond (C Davis).
