Soul II Soul is an English collective founded and led by producer/vocalist/songwriter DJ Jazzie B (Trevor Beresford Romeo, Jan 26). Other founding members were producer/arranger Nellee Hooper and instrumentalist Philip Daddae Harvey. Their style of innovative dance and R&B fused a number of older genres including Philly soul, disco, reggae and 80s hip-hop. They had international success with Caron Wheeler on vocals with "Keep on movin'" and "Back to life."
During the 90s, they had 2 UK top 10 hits with "A dream's a dream" and "Joy" with eight other UK Top 40 hits including collaborations with Kym Mazelle and Kofi.
Caron Wheeler had left the group in early 1990 to pursue a solo career with her best known track the UK Top 20 and US Dance #1 "Livin' in the light" in 1990.
