Everything but the girl is an English duo consisting of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt. In the 1990s, they are best known for the song "Missing", which was #1 on the UK and Canada dance chart. It reached #3 on the UK singles chart with a lot of help from the remixes from Todd Terry. "Wrong" was also a Canada dance #1 and the first of 3 US Dance #1s in 1996. "The future of the future" and "Five Fathoms (Love more)" were also US Dance #1's.

In July 2017, Everything but the girl reclaimed the rights to eight of their albums, plus the American rights to Temperamental and Walking Wounded from Warner Music Group. This catalogue will now be distributed through Chrysalis Records under licence from Watt's Strange Feeling label
Ben Watt released a couple of solo albums "Hendra" (2014) and "Fever Dream" (2016). He collaborated with Bernard Butler (Suede), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd). Tracy Thorn released "Record" (2018) with collaborations with Corinne Bailey Rae and Shura amongst others. Both Thorn and Watt have each written two books. Thorn's 2013 memoir, Bedsit Disco Queen, covers a significant portion of the history of EBTG as a band.
