Erasure is an English synthpop duo, consisting of singer and songwriter Andy Bell (Apr 25) and songwriter and keyboardist Vince Clarke (Jul 3). Having established themselves in the late 80s with hits like "Sometimes" and "Little Respect", they continued their success into the 90s, with 16 UK Top 40s in the decade. They are best known for covering Abba songs on UK#1 "Abba-Esque EP."
Erasure kicked off the decade with "Blue Savannah," which was their third and biggest single from their fourth studio album, "Wild!" when reached UK#3. In 1991, their fifth studio album "Chorus" was released and the title track, and "Love to hate you" all made the UK Top 5. In 1992, they put together versions of Abba songs in the "Abba-Esque EP", which gave them their only UK #1 hit to date. Their next studio album, "I say I say I say" featured another UK top 5 hit and US Top 20 hit, "Always." More UK hits followed from albums "Erasure" and "Cowboy."
