TLC

TLC are an American female voice trio, Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes (May 27), Rozanda 'Chilli' Thomas (Feb 27) and Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins (Apr 26). The name "TLC" is dervied from the initials of the trio.
TLC debut single was "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg", which reach #13 in the UK. This track samples James Brown's Escapeism (US#35 in 1971), Kool & The Gang's Jungle Boogie (US#4 in 1973), The Average White Band's School Boy Crush (US#33 in 1975) and Silver Conventions Fly, Robin, Fly (UK#28 / US#1 in 1975). "Creep" sampled "Hey Young World" by Slick Rick (from his 1988 "The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick"). "No scrubs" spent a total of 8 weeks at #1 on Canada Dance Chart in March/April/June 1999.

What happened next?
Left Eye had an international hit with Melanie C in 2000 with "Never be the same again", where it reached #1 in the UK. Whilst recording their fourth studio album, "3D", Lopes died tragically in a car accident. Upon completion, TLC announced that it would be the final album. The two remaining members stuck together and eventually a self-titled fifth album was released in 2017.
