Alannah Myles was born in Toronto, Canada on Christmas Day and is best known for her international hit, "Black Velvet" which made #2 in the UK and was #1 for 2 weeks in the States in 1990. She had a #1 in her native Canada with the ballad "Song instead of a kiss" in 1992.
