Pet Shop Boys are an English synth-pop duo, formed in London in 1981 and consisting of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. They established themselves in the 1980s with #1 hits like "West End Girls", "It's a sin", "Always on my mind" and "Heart" and were part of the Second British Invasion.
In the 1990s, they are best known for the songs "So Hard" and the covers of U2's "Where the streets have no name" and Village People's "Go West." They were still popular in the states particular in the dance chart where they scored 5 #1 hits with "Can you forgive her?" (1993), "Go West" (1993), "Before" (1996), "To step aside" (1997) and "New York City Boy" (1999).

What happened next?
Pet Shop Boys released their fourteenth studio album, "Hotspot" in 2020. Their last UK Top 40 hit was "Did you see me coming?" in 2009 (reached #21). Altogether they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles, 22 of them Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart and 4 chart-toppers. They scored their 11th US Dance Club Play #1 with "The Pop Kids" in 2016. They recently collaborated with Years and Years on the track "Dreamland" who then returned the favour by singing "It's a sin."
In December 2016, Billboard magazine listed them among the 100 Top Dance Club Artists of All Time (as 5th).
