Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is an American born (Mar 27) singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Known for her five-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, and signature use of the whistle register, she is referred to as the "Songbird Supreme" by Guinness World Records. She has also been referred to as the "Queen of Christmas". In 1990, Her debut single, the ballad "Vision of Love" reached #1 on the US Chart. This was the first of 5 consectutive #1s there. "Love Takes Time", "Someday" and "I don't wanna cry" all from Mariah's epononymous album and the title track from Mariah's second album, "Emotions" made the top spot. She would go on to have 10 more US #1s including Heartbreaker which sampled Stacy Lattisaw's Attack Of The Name Game. Ironically, her only UK #1, Nillson's "Without you" failed to reach the top in the states.

Mariah Carey is very much still in the public consciousness. In particular, "All I want for Christmas is you" after multiple re-issues finally reached #1 in the UK at Christmas in 2020. Not very hard to find news about her.
