Boyz II Men (or B2M in shorthand) is an American boy band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, best known for emotional ballads and a vocal harmonies. During the 1990s, Boyz II Men found fame on Motown Records as a quartet with baritone Nathan Morris (Jun 18) alongside tenors Wanya Morris (Jul 29) and Shawn Stockman (Sep 26) and bass Michael McCary (Dec 16). They are best known for the song "End of the road", which was on the soundtrack of the Eddie Murphy movie, "Boomerang". It spent 13 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and a mere 3 weeks at #1 in the UK. On "Motownphilly", one of their mentors Michel Bivins from Bel Biv Devoe provided the rap. "In the still of the nite" was featured on the soundtrack of "The Jacksons - The American Dream". Boyz II Men recorded an extreme rare feat on the US Chart when "On bended knee" knocked "I'll make love to you" from #1 in December 14. The latter had spent 14 weeks at #1 as Boyz II Men had continuous run of 1 weeks at #1. "On bended knee" itself bounced back to #1 regaining the top spot from Ini Kamoze's "Here comes the hotstepper". It spent a total of 6 weeks at #1. The song "Thank you" sampled Doug E Fresh's 1995 track 'La-Di-Da-Di'. The duet with Mariah Carey, "One Sweet Day" spent 16 weeks at #1 in 1995-1996. Boyz II Men also spent 1 week at US#1 with 4 Seasons Of Loneliness in 1997. Hence Boyz II Men spent 50 weeks at #1 (almost a whole year) in the 1990s.
