Cypress Hill

Cypress Hill is an American hip-hop band from SOuth Gate, California. The group formed when brothers Sen Dog (Senen Reyes) and Mellow Man Ace (Sergio Reyes) teamed up with DJ Muggs (Lawerence Muggerud) and B-Real (Louis Freese) in 1988. They named themselves DVX (Devastating Vocal Excellence). However, Mellow Man Ace launched a solo career and the group changed their name to Cypress Hill after a street in South Gate. During the start of the commercial success, Eric Bobo joined the crew.
The outfit is best known for "Insane in the brain", their lead single from their sophomore album, "Black Sunday". It was #1 on the US Rap chart. The album itself reached #1 on Billboard chart. It eventually reached #21 in the UK upon reissue. They had 9 UK Top 40 hits although slightly surprising none of them reached the Top 10 there.
