808 State is an English techno outfit formed in 1988 with founders underground record store owner Martin Price and producer Graham Massey. Gerald Simpson was initial member but left in 1989 to follow his own project, "A guy called Gerald".
DJ duo Spinmasters (Andrew Barker and Darren Partington) joined and had success with "Pacific".
Into the 1990s, They collaborated with rapper MC Tunes to have top 20 hits, "Only rhyme that bites" and "Tunes splits the atom".
Two more top 10 followed with "Cubik / Olympic" and "In yer face". Olympic was used as theme to the TV show, "The Word". Amongst other collaborations was one with UB40 on "One in ten" in 1992.
Pacific and Cubik were remixed in 1998 and reached #1 on the UK Dance chart.

What happened next?
808 State continue as a duo from the originating founders, most recently remixing the Art of Noise on "Moments in Love". Former member, Barker passed away in November 2021.
