On this day 1990, Elton John made it 3 weeks as UK#1 with the double A side of "Sacrifice" / "Healing Hands". This was Elton's 2nd ever UK#1. He had been waiting almost 14 years for a chart-topper since "Don't go breaking my heart" was UK#1 in 1976.
Meanwhile stateside, boyband New Kids on the Block were spending a 2nd week as US#1 with "Step by step", which was their 3rd and presently last US#1.
