Salt'n'Pepa

Salt-N-Pepa are an American hip-hop group consisting of Cheryl "Salt" James (Mar 28), Sandra "Pepa" Denton (Nov 9) and Spinderlla. Early on Spinderella was Pamela Latoya Greene but was replaced by Deidra "Spin" Roper (Aug 3).

What happened next?
Salt-N-Pepa have appeared in 80s/90s revival tours, 'I love the 90s' in the UK in 2017-2018 and 'Mixtape' in the States in 2019. In 2021, Lifetime released a Salt-N-Pepa biopic, which starred GG Townson as Salt, Laila Odom as Pepa, Monique Jasmine Paul as DJ Spinderella, Cleveland Berto as Herbie, Daniel Keith Morrison as MC Hammer, Denver Taylor as Martin Lawrence, Bronson Phillip Lake as Christopher "Kid" Reid, and Devante Senior as Christopher "Play" Martin. Salt-N-Pepa served as the executive producers while Queen Latifah served as a producer and Mario Van Peebles as director.

Sagat

Sagat is a moniker used by American rapper Faustin Maxim Moran Lenon. He is best known for the underground hit "Funk dat" or as I call the "Why is it..." rant! A cleaner version for radio was released and eventually made the top 40 in the UK. It was never established whether his name was garnered from the Street fighter character of the same name.

What happened next?
Sagat released an album called "My Poem Is... The World According To Sagat" which included "Funk dat" and other singles "Get Outta My Face" and "Luvstuff". He recorded "Mr Phat" under another alias BlakSam. Ray Krebbs covered "Funk dat" in 1999. Sagat currently records under the name of Sagatmanchu.

Sabrina Johnston

Sabrina Marie Johnston or just Sabrina Johnston is an American born singer. Best known for the songs "Peace" and "Friendship".

What happened next?
Sabrina Johnston released a second album, "Yum Yum" in 1998. It was originally titled "Sabrina" when it was released in Japan. Johnston made an appearance as a backing vocalist on Lauryn Hill's "To Zion", from the 1998 album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Her last release "Lift You Up" in 2001 was exclusive to Italy.

RuPaul

RuPaul Andre Charles or just RuPaul is an American born (Nov 17) actor, drag queen, model, and singer-songwriter, who first gained fame in the 1990s when he appeared in a wide variety of television programs, films, and musical albums. RuPaul hit the topspot on US Dance chart with "Back to my roots" and "A shade shady (Now Prance)" in 1993. Arguably the more notable dance track would be the debut single "Supermodel (You better work), which reached #2 on the US Dance chart in 1992 and #39 in the UK in 1993.

What happened next?
These days RuPaul is best known for the reality tv competition RuPaul's Drag Race which first hit the US in 2009 and eventually the shores of the UK in 2019. It has been syndicated in other countries like Canada, Chile, Netherlands, Spain and Thailand.

Ruffneck

Ruffneck is an American house music group consisting of record producers Dwayne Richardson, Derek Jenkins and Shaheer Williams. They are best known for the dance track "Everybody be somebody", which was based on a sample from "Bostich" by the Swiss synthpop band Yello. It spent three weeks at #1 on the US Dance chart in September 1995 and one week at #1 on Canada Dance Chart in January 1996. Other songs included "Move your body" (1996) and "All that Jazz" (1997). The featured vocalist on all their chart entries was Joanne "Yavahn" Thomas.

What happened next?
Tragically, Yavahn died of colon cancer in 2003 and consequently as a tribute Ruffneck a couple of previously unreleased tracks, "Music to my ears" (2004) and "Get it Right" (2005). Not a lot of activity since 2005.

Ruff Driverz

Ruff Driverz was the dance music outfit comprising of English DJ and remixers Brad Carter and Chris Brown. The duo also recorded under the names 2000BC and Transit. They worked with Katherine "Arrola" Ellis (credited as "Ruff Driverz Presents Arrola") on the flamenco-inspired "Dreaming" and the "La Musica". The former being their biggest UK hit reaching the top 10 and spending a total of 2 weeks at #1 on UK Dance Chart in December 1998. Their debut single, "Don't stop" also reached #1 on the UK Dance Chart in February 1998. Their last single whilst only reaching #37 in the UK, got all the way to #2 on the US Dance chart.

Katherine Ellis has been featured artist with the Freemasons, Dave Lee/Joey Negro, Roger Sanchez and Cerrone. She has also done some TV advert work as well.

Rozalla

Rozalla Miller or just Rozalla is Zambian born (Mar 18) singer. She is best known for the international dance hit "Everybody's free (to feel good)". Currently her only UK Top 10 hit, it also reach the top of the US Dance chart in 1992 as did "Are you ready to fly?". Rozalla also released the old O'Jays song "I love music", which was featured on the Al Pacino movie, "Carlito's way". This reached #1 on both the US and Canada dance charts.

In 2015, Rozalla returned to the Top 10 of the Billboard Club Dance Charts for the first time since 1994 with her track "If You Say It Again". This was quickly followed by the single 'Shadows of the Moon'. In recent times, Rozalla released "I feel it slippy away" in 2020 and is itching to do a few shows once COVID restrictions are lifted. Very recently, she released and has been promoting the song "I want you back"
