The band is fronted by John Penney with guitarist Gareth Pring, drummer Dan Warton, bassists Alex Griffin and Matt Cheslin. They had 2 UK top 20 hits with "Happy" and "Not sleeping around" in the early 90s.

What happened next?
After eight years of existence Ned's Atomic Dustbin disbanded in 1995. A new re-formed line-up was created in 2000 and the original line-up returned in 2008. In 2017, encouraged by Miles Hunt (Wonder Stuff) to perform songs acoustically, Penney created a new project aptly named "Ned's acoustic dustbin".
