Proyecto Uno

Proyecto Uno was founded in 1989 by Nelson Zapata and Rick Echavarría. They were the groups' original members. Later the original producer for the group Pavel De Jesus and John G. Wilson aka Magic Juan became part of the group. Debuting with their original manager, Porfirio "Popi" Pina.
The present members are Nelson Zapata, Kid-G, Josue Cedeño and Paolo Tondo. One of his greatest successes was with the theme "El Tiburon" which spent three weeks at #1 on the Canada Dance chart in 1996. Other successes were "Esta Pega'o", "Move Your Body (Mueve La Cadera)", "Latinos" and "Another Night".

What happened next?
After the 90s, Proyecto Uno went on hiatus but since 2014 have been regularly releasing tracks and most recently released "Musica Feliz" with Mad Stuntman (returning a favour when Proyecto Uno were featured artist on Reel 2 Real's "Move your body").

Praxis

Praxis was a project consisting of House DJ/Production duo of Cevin Fisher and David Shaw. Best known featuring vocalist Kathy Brown on the song "Turn me out (turn to sugar)", which reached #1 in both the UK and US Dance charts.

What happened next?
Both Cevin Fisher and David Shaw continue to DJ and produce. Kathy Brown has kept recording tracks over the years, most recently as featured artist on Brookes Brothers & Kove's "Burn" in 2020.

Powerhouse

Powerhouse was a project of American DJ Lenny Fontana and is best known for the track "What you need" featuring Duane Harden. It reached the top of both UK and US dance charts in 1999. Note in 1997, another powerhouse project (belonging to Hamilton Dean and Julian Slatter) reached the UK top 40 with "Rhythm of the night".

What happened next?
Lenny Fontana continues to DJ and mostly released the track "Hell Yeah" with Vangela Crowe. Duane Harden has kept busy over the years and did an excellent collaboration with House Gospel Choir in 2020/2021.

Pizzaman

Pizzaman is a project consisting of DJ/Production duo of Norman Cook and JC Reid with vocalist Jon Martin. Best known for the songs, "Trippin' on sunshine" and "Sex on the streets". The latter reaching #1 on the UK Dance chart on two separate occasions in mid 1995 and early 1996.

What happened next?
Unfortunately, little activity from the Pizzaman project with a "very best of" compilation in 2000. Norman Cook of course became Fat Boy Slim, but little was heard from both JC and Jon.

Pianoman

Pianoman (better known as James Sammon) is an English DJ and producer. He made his presence known with a heavily sampled rave track simply entitled "That Whitney Tune" in 1992. But he is best known for the UK Top 10 hit "Blurred", which took inspiration from Blur's "Girls and Boys".

What happened next?
Carl Cameron joined the project in 2016 as they have been working together at Salford Central Records. Pianoman have been busy in 2022 with three tracks, including the remix of "Whitney Tune" (30 years after original release), "Relevation 2022" and "Pump that party".

Photek

Rupert Matthew Swain Parkes (better known as Photek) is an English born dance producer and ventured from jungle in the early 90s to drum and bass in the late 90s. Best known for the song "Ni Ten Ichi Ryu", which reached #1 on UK Dance chart early 1997.

What happened next?
In 2001, he collaborated with Robert Owens on "Mine to give", which narrowly failed to break the UK Top 40 (#44). Recently Photek has moved into the realm of producing film scores from where he is currently based in Hollywood. His most recent musical effort was a collaboration with Sasha on "Aviator".

Perpetual Motion

Perpetual Motion are an UK based production duo consisting of Andy Manston and Julian Napolitano. Best known for the UK Top 20 hit, "Keep on dancin'" from mid-1998.

What happened next?
Julian Napolitano released a 2011 album entitled "Club Electro" but has become a record producer for the most part. Andy Manston released a 2001 track, "Soul Killer" and like Julian became a record producer.

Patti LaBelle

Patricia Louise Holte-Edwards (better known as Patti LaBelle) is an American born (May 24) soul singer who has been recording since 1977. In the 1990s, her 1989 original of "If you asked me to" was covered by an up and coming Celine Dion in 1992 (reached #4 in the States). She reached the the top of US Dance chart three times including as part of LaBelle with "Turn it out" (1995).

What happened next?
Patti LaBelle most recent release was with Braxton Holmes on "Get Ready (Lookng for loving) in 2019. She also appeared on the secnd season of the American Masked Singer as "Flower" in 2019.

Patra

Dorothy Smith (better known as Patra) is a Jamaican born (Nov 22) dancehall/reggae singer. Best known for "Worker man", which spent a week at #1 on the US dance chart mid-1994. Three other tracks made the Billboard Hot 100, "Romantic Call" with Yo-yo (1994), a cover of Grace Jones' "Pull up to the bumper" (1995) and "Scent of attraction" with Aaron Hall (1996). Her only appearance on the UK chart was as a featured artist on Shabba Ranks' "Family Affair".

Pato Banton

Patrick Murray (better known as Pato Banton) is an English reggae artist from Birmingham. Best known for his version of the Equals' "Baby come back" with help from Robin and Ali Campbell from UB40, which spent 4 weeks at #1 on the UK singles chart late 1994.

Oui 3

Oui 3 were an English/American/Swiss dance music outfit consisting of Blair Booth (singer-songwriter), Philippe Erb, (Swiss engineer) and Trevor Miles (US Rapper). Scored several hits in the nineties, most notably "Break from the Old Routine" and an adaptation of Buffalo Springfield's "For What it's Worth."

What happened next?
Not a lot is known of late about Blair Booth and Trevor Miles. But Philippe Erb helped remix for Heaven 17's "Play to win" in 2020.

OT Quartet

OT Quartet was a project combining the talents of Rob Dougan and Roland (Rollo) Armstrong. Together they released the song, "Hold that sucker down."

What happened next?
Rob Dougan released a couple of singles in the mid-90s in his own right "Hard Times" and "Clubbed to death." The latter was featured in the 1999 movie, "The Matrix". Rollo is a founder member of Faithless and not only that he remixed and produced tracks for so many artists like Pet Shop Boys, Simply Red, U2, Moby and even his sister, Dido.

Original

The Original was a house music project created by French DJ Walter Taieb in his studio in New York City. In April 1994, he invited his friend, the Italian DJ and producer Giuseppe Nuzzo (DJ Pippi) who was the resident DJ of Pacha in Ibiza to come to New York to do a track for the summer. Taieb invited another friend, New York session vocalist Everett Bradley for vocals to the track.
"I Love You Baby (Swing Mix)" was the first release on Taieb's label WT Records in 1994 after Mercury Universal passed on their option to release it. The following year, a remix by Dancing Divaz became a hit single titled as "I Luv U Baby"

What happened next?
Everett Bradley has been backing vocalist for many big names like Bruce Springsteen, Carly Simon, Jon Bon Jovi, Quincy Jones and Hall & Oates. He also became music director for the musical, "Stomp". Pippi continues to DJ and produce back in Ibiza, Spain. Taieb continues to record, most recently "Vertigo" with Jonathan Mouton in 2021.

Onephatdeeva

Onephatdeeva is a project created by Spanish House DJ and producer Aydin Hasirci. The name was was derived from the debut track "In And Out Of My Life" that combined elements from Fatboy Slim "Right Here Right Now" along with Adeva "In & Out Of My Life". Originally the track was credited with the name 'OnePhatDiva', it later changed to the artist name as OnePhatDeeva.

Aydin continues to work under the moniker ATFC and last release was "Spirit of House" in 2020.

Omni Trio

Omni Trio is a project belonging to expiermental musician Robert Haigh. In the 90s, he developed a unique style of what has become known as ambient (or 'intelligent') Drum and Bass and released a number of acclaimed albums. The Omni Trio sound iss notable for its intricate orchestrated production and atmospheric sound palette. The project is best for the UK Dance #1 hit, "Sanctuary!"

What happened next?
The Omni Trio faired a little better with "The angels and shadows project" reaching UK#44 in 2001. Under his own name, Rob Haigh released a classical album "Human Remains" in 2022.

Nuyorican Soul

Nuyorican Soul is an American outfit formed by Little Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez. As the name indicated, their music was based on New York (dance) music scene. Their 1997 self-titled album features a number of guest performances including George Benson, Roy Ayers, Tito Puente, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jocelyn Brown, Vincent Montana Jr., Salsoul Orchestra, and India. They are best known for the 1997 UK and US Dance #1 hit, "Runaway". Two songs featuring Jocelyn Brown also reached the top of the UK Dance charts with "I am the black gold of the sun" and "It's alright I feel it"

What happened next?
As Nuyorican Soul, no new material was released with the exception of 2013 release, "The Nervous Track/Mind Fluid". Both Vega and Kenny Dope have been fairly active produce new tracks. Kenny Dope's most recent release was "Talk Dirty" in 2017 and Vega released a new album in 2022, "Expansions in NYC."

Ned's Atomic Dustbin

Ned's Atomic Dustbin are an English alternative rock band that took their name from an episode of radio comedy "The Goons". The band is fronted by John Penney with guitarist Gareth Pring, drummer Dan Warton, bassists Alex Griffin and Matt Cheslin. They had 2 UK top 20 hits with "Happy" and "Not sleeping around" in the early 90s.

What happened next?
After eight years of existence Ned's Atomic Dustbin disbanded in 1995. A new re-formed line-up was created in 2000 and the original line-up returned in 2008. In 2017, encouraged by Miles Hunt (Wonder Stuff) to perform songs acoustically, Penney created a new project aptly named "Ned's acoustic dustbin".

Natural Born Grooves

Natural Born Grooves (not to be confused with Natural Born Chillers) was a Belgian project from the duo of Bert Boon and Jaco van Rijswijk and are best known for the 1997 UK Dance #1 hit, "Groovebird".

Natural Born Grooves have continued released tracks over the years. Their most recent one was the 2017 release, "Love in the city". van Rijswijk also went on to run the NBG Studios label in the noughties.

Natural Born Chillers

Natural Born Chillers (sometimes Natural Born Killers) is an English project compromising of Arif Salih and Lee Parker (sometimes Audio Vandal) that released the UK Dance #1 hit, "Rock the funky beat" in November 1997.
